The history of Ferrer Wines dates back five generations, to 1861 when Francesc Sala Ferré became involved in the wine world. On the family estate of Can Sala, he was a pioneer in using a state-of-the-art press from France, which is still preserved today. Francesc passed on the business legacy to his son Joan Sala, who in turn passed it to his daughter Dolors Sala and her husband Pere Ferrer Bosch, known as "El Freixenet." The three were the founders of Freixenet in 1914, a winery dedicated to sparkling wines.
The next generation, represented by José Ferrer Sala, ventured into the most prestigious Spanish and international Denominations of Origin, such as Argentina, California, France, and Australia. Ferrer Wines was born as a result of the acquisition made by Pedro Ferrer Noguer of four wineries owned by Grupo Freixenet: Valdubón (Ribera del Duero), Orube (Rioja Alavesa), Vionta (Rías Baixas), and Finca Ferrer (Uco Valley – Argentina).
Additionally, Ferrer Wines produces the renowned organic cavas: Cavas Hill (acquired in 2020); and also crafts wines in the prestigious Denominations of Origin of Rueda, Monterrei, Priorat, and Monsant, as well as in the Cachapoal Valley in Chile.
Currently, Pedro Ferrer Noguer, the fourth generation of the family and son of José Ferrer, has taken up the legacy and leads the Ferrer Wines Group.
