Although his family had been involved in winemaking for more than two centuries, it was not until 1949 that Jesús Díaz managed to have his own facilities. To achieve this, he acquired and restored the old winery that Florentino Mingo Garcés, his wife's grandfather, owned in the Madrid town of Colmenar de Oreja. In this building, which was part of a 15th-century Franciscan convent, Jesús began producing wine to sell in bulk to various establishments both in Madrid and northern Spain.
After a financial injection aimed at modernizing its facilities, the winery decided to produce and market quality wines in 1979, the year when Juan José, son of Jesús Díaz, decided to dedicate himself full-time to the family business after graduating in Biology from UCM and completing a Master's in Viticulture and Oenology at the School of Agronomy. In 1997, Bodegas Jesús Díaz was officially established, a company that has since changed its name to Bodegas Hermanos Díaz Ocaña. Antonio Díaz Ocaña -son of Jesús Díaz- is the director and oenologist of the winery.
