The Alvear family has owned the winery of the same name since its foundation. Diego de Alvear y Escalera, a passionate enthusiast of vineyards and wine, was the first of the lineage and founder of the winery in 1729 in the Montilla region. Since then, the ownership of the winery has been passed down from parents to children. Fernando Giménez Alvear is the current director.
