Chris Ringland

Professional career

Professional career: Born in Auckland (New Zealand), he has always been fascinated by the craft of winemaking, so much so that, from a very young age, he was already cultivating the neighbors' vineyards to make his first wines. He spent several years working as a wine cellar locally and later traveled to South Australia where he studied enology at the Roseworthy campus. Then he returned to New Zealand where he completed his training.

After a period working in California and Europe, he returned to South Australia, and in the late eighties, he started working with Robert O’Callaghan at Rockford Wines in the Barossa Valley. Here, Chris Ringland produced his world-famous Shiraz under his own name (previously Three Rivers Shiraz). After 15 years at Rockford, he returned to Europe and developed the Bodegas El Nido project together with the Gil family.
