"My wine is a fresh wine with which I try to make the most of the Albariño grapes I grow on my family estate. I only produce it when the quality of the grapes is, at the very least, optimal."
Professional career
Antonio Rey Abelenda was born 47 years ago in the town of Vilagarcía de Arousa, located in the province of Pontevedra. A viticulturist by profession, he took over a family estate and planted 7 hectares of Albariño to sell the grapes to some of the most renowned wineries in the D.O. Rías Baixas. A few years ago, he decided that when the quality of the grapes was exceptional, he would make his own wine, even if it meant using a rented winery. The result is Pescavella, a wine with an excellent quality-price ratio that is only released in very special vintages.
