Description of their own wines
"The Abadía Retuerta estate consists of 54 plots identified according to soil composition, orientation, planted variety, and temperature. They are reminiscent of the climats (or crus) of Burgundy. Each plot is analyzed, monitored, worked, vinified, and tasted separately. This makes it possible to transfer the personality of our terroir to each of our wines, which forms the essence of the vino de pago."
Professional career
Since 1996, he has been the technical director of Bodegas Abadía Retuerta. Other achievements: Winemaker of the Year worldwide at the International Wine Challenge 2005. Extensive experience in research. Member of the International Academy of Wine since 2001. Co-author of the wine terminology dictionary "LEXIVINO." Master’s professor in Oenology at the University of the Basque Country. Author of various scientific publications. Conferences and symposiums.

Training
Winemaker and Doctor in Oenology and Ampelology from the University of Bordeaux, being the first Spanish winemaker to obtain a doctorate from a Faculty of Oenology.
