Description of their own wines
The Priorat possesses an enormous uniqueness and personality that are reflected in the wines produced there. Its monastic origin provides, especially in the oldest vineyards, a guarantee of quality, typicity, and spirituality similar to the most prestigious regions of Europe.
Professional career

Álvaro Palacios is one of the most renowned winemakers and vintners in Spain. Born in Alfaro (La Rioja) into a well-known local winemaking family - the Palacios Remondo -, Álvaro Palacios decided in 1989, at just 24 years old, to head to the Priorat to prove that he could craft top-tier estate wines in the most promising wine region of the time. Not only did he achieve this, but he also created a cult wine: L´Ermita (D.O.Ca. Priorat).

Furthermore, from his family winery located in Alfaro, he led the renewal of Rioja Baja (now known as Rioja Oriental); and, together with his nephew Ricardo Pérez Palacios, he has been one of the key figures in the revival of Bierzo with his winery Descendientes de J. Palacios.

In February 2022, Álvaro Palacios was crowned as ‘Winemaker of the Year’ in the ‘Rioja 2022 Special Report’ by the prestigious British critic Tim Atkin for his extraordinary work in the vineyards of the family winery in Alfaro.
