Veneto

The denomination Veneto IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) represents one of the most versatile and dynamic wine regions in Italy. Located in the northeast of the country, this indication encompasses the entire Veneto region and allows great freedom in winemaking, which has encouraged innovation and adaptation to international tastes.

The Veneto IGT was established in 1995 with the aim of offering producers greater flexibility in winemaking, allowing the use of both indigenous and foreign varieties. Since then, it has become one of the most widely used denominations in Italy, thanks to its ability to adapt to global market trends.

The Veneto IGT area covers the entire Veneto region, including the provinces of Verona, Vicenza, Padua, Treviso, Venice, Rovigo, and Belluno. This geographical diversity allows for a wide variety of wine styles, from fresh whites to structured reds and elegant sparkling wines.

The region's vineyards stretch from the pre-Alpine hills to the plains near the Adriatic Sea. The most commonly used varieties include pinot grigio, garganega, glera, corvina, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, and carménère. This combination of indigenous and international grapes enables a broad range of single-varietal and multi-varietal wines.

Under the Veneto IGT denomination, white, red, and rosé wines are produced, both still and sparkling, as well as sweet passito-style wines. Varietal wines must contain at least 85% of the indicated variety, while bi-varietal wines must have between 50% and 85% of the main grape. No minimum aging periods are required, allowing great freedom in winemaking methods.
