D.O.C.G. Nizza is an Italian appellation located in the province of Asti, in the Piedmont region, in northern Italy.
The appellation covers red wines produced with the barbera variety, the third most planted red grape in the country, which finds optimal ripening conditions in this area.
The production area is centered around the town of Nizza Monferrato, from which the wine takes its name.
Nizza achieved D.O.C.G. status in 2014. Prior to that date, it had been a ‘Superiore’ subzone of the D.O.C.G. Barbera d'Asti.
