Negroamaro is a red grape variety linked to the region of Puglia (Apulia), in southeastern Italy, where it has been cultivated for more than 1,500 years. The negroamaro grape is characterized by its intense color and flavors of forest fruits (raspberry, blackberry...). It is usually produced in combination with other traditional varieties of the region, such as primitivo, malvasia nera, sangiovese, or montepulciano.
Within the Puglia region, the Salento peninsula is undoubtedly the cradle of the most elegant negroamaro wines. This variety forms a perfect alliance with the Mediterranean climate of the area. Moreover, due to its drought resistance, it is unaffected by the region's scarce rainfall.
