The minnella bianca grape is an autochthonous variety from Sicily and is only cultivated on the island. The bunch of minnella is medium, loose, and pyramidal, with a considerable weight of around 100-360 grams. The berries have white pulp, are medium-large, and ellipsoidal. The color of the grape is greenish-yellow with golden tones.
Minnella Bianca is an early-ripening grape variety; one of the first wine grapes harvested, around the second week of September.
This grape is cultivated on an approximate surface of 86 hectares, mostly in the province of Catania, on the slopes of Mount Etna. Thus, the minnella bianca variety is part of the D.O.C. Etna Bianco.
The white wines made with the minnella bianca grape variety have an exotic aroma of yellow tropical fruits with notes of cinnamon, anise, and a sensational acidity that keeps the wines concentrated and fresh on the palate. Ideal for pairing with fish.
The minnella grape is vinified and used as a blend in wines like Catarratto and Inzolia.
