The clusters are medium-sized, compact, and amphora-shaped. The grapes are also small and spherical, with a garnet-purple color and a distinctive cherry flavor. Very old vineyards achieve good levels of coloring matter (when fully ripe, the fruits turn reddish). The wines generally have low expressiveness but high alcohol content. They offer characteristic aromas of ripe fruit, caramel, and blue flowers (lilacs), with a medium body, resulting in a light and smooth palate. It is usually used alongside the native Callet.
