Cesanese d´Affile

The Cesanese d´Affile grape is the most widespread and important native red variety of Lazio. It is also cultivated in places like Florence and Rome, and can be found in the regions of Tuscany, Umbria, and Liguria.

Its cluster is usually medium or small, cylindrical, sometimes winged. The berry or grape is small, spherical, with a regular circular section, and its color is bluish-black. The pulp has a simple flavor, and its juice is colorless.

From the Cesanese d´Affile grape variety, wines rich in alcohol are produced. They are usually ruby-colored, tending towards garnet with age. On the nose, they are soft, with a very delicate aroma of berries, blueberries, and forest fruits. There is a spicy and floral touch with violet nuances. On the palate, it is well-structured and solid, with tannins and a bitter aftertaste that contrasts with the delicacy noted on the nose.

These wines pair especially well with spicy dishes from traditional cuisine, red meat dishes, pork, roasted rabbit and lamb, cheeses, and cured meats.
