Vinya El Rocallís 2022 is a white wine made 100% from the incrocio manzoni grape variety by the Can Ràfols dels Caus winery under the Penedés Denomination of Origin. The adaptation of the incrocio manzoni grape to the calcareous and rocky terrain of the Garraf massif has been exceptional, thus creating a complex wine with many nuances. It is a unique and singular white wine, unlike any other.

General Information

The wine Vinya El Rocallís 2022 is made from vineyards cultivated in soils with a significant calcareous and clay mass, where the incrocio manzoni variety has adapted exceptionally well. This variety not only adds complexity to the wine but also imparts elegance and minerality.

Can Ràfols Dels Caus and its founder and winemaker, Carlos Esteva, aimed to give the wines a unique character and ensure that the winery had a well-recognized identity. To achieve this, they introduced new grape varieties to this region (such as incrocio manzoni), as well as innovative and always organic cultivation methods, with the goal of producing high-quality wines.

Vinya El Rocallís is a white wine from the D.O. Penedés, made from grapes sourced from old vines over 30 years old, hand-harvested. At the winery, a traditional fermentation process is carried out, without the addition of any selected yeast. Subsequently, it is aged in French oak barrels for 4 to 5 months and left in the bottle for 24 months before being marketed. Vinya El Rocallís 2022 is a wine that pairs well with all kinds of fish, roasted and grilled vegetables, rice dishes, and semi-cured cheeses.

Tasting notes

Vinya El Rocallís is a golden yellow wine, clean and bright.

Medium intensity on the nose, with aromas of varied white fruit and spring flowers with hints of sea salt.

On the palate, it is deep, creamy, with succulent fruits and very mineral.

Can Ràfols Dels Caus

The Can Ràfols Dels Caus winery was founded in 1979 with the arrival of Carlos Esteva to his grandfather's estate of the same name. Esteva's arrival at the estate marked a revolution, as he regenerated the exploitation of its vineyards by introducing new varieties and cultivation methods aimed at achieving quality, giving the wines a unique character and the winery its own identity.

After several decades in the wine sector, Carlos Esteva continues to stand out for his extensive knowledge of the wine world. He has been nominated by the renowned Académie Internationale du vin. Additionally, he has created countless references at Can Ràfols Dels Caus and is involved in other projects such as Mas Oller in Empordà and Can Camps.

In a unique and singular environment, the wines of Can Ràfols Dels Caus are born in soils with a significant limestone mass located at the southernmost end of the Litoral mountain range, bordered by the Penedès plains and the Mediterranean Sea.

25 years after Carlos Esteva took the reins of Can Ràfols Dels Caus, he decided to build a new winery with the aim of improving operations, expanding qualitative potential, and continuing research.

Carlos Esteva seeks to produce great wines that express the nuances of their terroir. For him, exceptional wines have that something that goes beyond what we are capable of perceiving through the eyes, nose, and palate.
