From one of the best areas of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, we present Bodegas Lleiroso. A winery with 30 hectares of vineyards spread across Valbuena de Duero, Peñafiel, and Pesquera de Duero, in the so-called “golden mile” of the production area, alongside renowned neighbors such as Vega Sicilia.
Bodegas Lleiroso leads the group of wineries that, in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, revolutionized the D.O. Ribera del Duero, founded in 1982. A winemaking house established in 2001 that, from its inception, has always been committed to preserving its own vineyards, many of them old vines, to produce wines deeply connected to the terroir.
Discover it now through one of its top wines, the limited red Lleiroso Reserva 2018. A wine that perfectly defines the region's distinctive style in a vintage with Atlantic influence like 2018. This red wine undergoes 15 months of aging in French oak Bordeaux barrels and a long period in the bottle before being released to the market, allowing the tannins to soften and offering itself in full splendor to the consumer.
It exhibits a beautiful ripe cherry red color with an intense garnet rim, very well covered in layer.
On the nose, it stands out for its good aromatic intensity, complexity, and fragrance. The first notes perceived correspond to very ripe black fruits (plums and blueberries) accompanied by clear hints of cocoa and soft toasted aromas. Later, spicy fragrances appear (cinnamon and vanilla).
On the palate, it is meaty, flavorful, and balanced. A wine endowed with good structure and noble, ripe tannins, yet still expressive and lively on the palate. Excellent work in wood management during the aging period, with a good gustatory balance between the fruit and the wood. Long and very persistent retronasal passage, marked by notes of ripe cherries and soft hints of dark chocolate.
