Made with Tempranillo, Viña Bujanda Reserva 2020 offers an elegant, complex and distinctly Rioja character. A safe bet for those who value the personality of this Denominación de Origen.

Viña Bujanda Reserva 2020 is a Rioja red produced with Tempranillo, a clear commitment to elegance and structure. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks and a maceration of 16 days, the wine underwent ageing for 24 months in American and French oak barrels. A serious Rioja, with character and depth.

The grapes come from vineyards located in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. Calcareous-clay and calcareous-ferrous soils give character to the cultivation, while the harvest of September 2020 allowed picking the fruit at a good level of ripeness. A well-defined origin.

Behind Viña Bujanda Reserva 2020 is Viña Bujanda, a family winery linked to Rioja and focused on expressing the value of its vineyards with balanced wines of a classic profile.

Viña Bujanda Reserva 2020 pairs very well with bonito marmitako and Iberico secreto, and also with red meats or roasts.

Making process

Winemaking

The grapes of Tempranillo enter the winery for a 16-day maceration, with the must in contact with the skins and under temperature control to favour precise extraction and keep the wine's freshness. Afterwards, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, where Viña Bujanda Reserva 2020 refines its character with a clean and careful winemaking process, designed to preserve the fruit and shape an elegant and balanced red.

24 months in American and French oak barrels.

Vineyard

Description

Viña Bujanda Reserva 2020 is born from vineyards spread across Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, in Oyón and Logroño, on calcareous-clay and iron-rich clay soils that give the wine character and depth.

Tasting notes

View

Purple colour with a bluish rim, bright and crystal-clear, of high intensity.

Nose

Nose elegant and complex, with first notes of tobacco and wood, accompanied by memories of blackberry, plums in liqueur and sloes; in the background, subtle hints of vanilla, sweet spices and a milky retronasal note that rounds off its aromatic profile.

Mouth

Viña Bujanda Reserva 2020 shows on the palate the mark of a well-crafted ageing, with an intense attack and a great volume that fills the palate from the first sip; its mouthfeel is fresh and elegant, with well-integrated tannins, a silky texture and a good structure that provides balance and length, finishing with a very long, pleasant and persistent finish.

The winery

Bodegas Viña Bujanda

The saga of the Martínez Bujanda family boasts over a century of winemaking tradition. From its beginnings, the family's winemaking philosophy has been based on selecting the best terrains and producing wines from their own vineyards. This same ideology governs the winery Viña Bujanda (2009), which has 120 hectares of vineyards (between 20 and 60 years old) spread across different estates in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa.
