Vilosell 2023 is a sensational red wine born from the blend of the varieties tempranillo, syrah, and garnacha, cultivated at an altitude of 712 meters above sea level. For its production, manual harvesting is carried out in boxes with a strict grape selection and subsequent cooling of the whole berries. During vinification, the grapes undergo cold pre-maceration, followed by fermentation and maceration in 10,000-liter tanks at controlled temperature. Subsequently, the wine undergoes 9 months of aging in French oak barrels and 3 months of aging on lees in underground concrete tanks.
The winery Tomàs Cusiné is the personal project that Tomàs Cusiné launched in 2003 with the goal of producing characterful wines that reflect the expression of the territory, utilizing his extensive knowledge of the D.O. Costers del Segre. Over the years, the winery has continued to carefully work the vineyard with precision winemaking. Tomàs Cusiné owns 30 hectares of vineyards, which are cultivated in an ecological and sustainable manner.
With these environmentally friendly techniques certified by CCPAE, this Vilosell 2023 is produced, a wine under the D.O. Costers del Segre, which pairs ideally with roasted pork dishes, grilled lamb, stews, meat-based rice dishes, cured sausages, and semi-cured cheeses.
Garnet red color, medium layer, clean and bright.
Medium-high intensity on the nose, with aromas of black fruit, smoky notes, chocolate with hints of white pepper.
On the palate, it is velvety and attractively sweet, with notes of blackberry and mocha. Great persistence and breadth on the palate.
This boutique winery is the first independent project of Tomàs Cusiné in the village of El Vilosell. In 2003, after gaining the necessary experience in wineries such as Castell del Remei and Cérvoles, the winemaker decided to embark on his own wine adventure in the region of Les Garrigues.
The purpose of this winery is to craft characterful wines that represent the expression of the territory, leveraging Tomàs Cusiné's knowledge of the D.O. Costers del Segre. In recent years, the winery has been prioritizing vineyard work and precision winemaking.
Currently, it produces wines under the denominations of origin Costers del Segre, Conca de Barberà, and Monsant.
This winery has 30 hectares of vineyards, which are managed organically and sustainably. In addition to its own vineyards, there are another 70 hectares from associated winegrowers in the same area.
As a winemaker, Tomàs Cusiné demonstrates his mastery in wine blending and is recognized as an expert in this field, with over 30 harvests of experience. In short, he is one of the most renowned winemakers on the current scene, with a total production of 1,200,000 bottles, half of which are exported to more than 40 countries worldwide.
