Vara y Pulgar 2022 is a surprising and delicious rarity. Compañía de Vinos del Atlántico, a giant winery present in 18 denominations of Spain and Portugal, produces this single-varietal of tintilla, a historical variety in Jerez, currently in the process of recovery. The vineyards of origin for this wine date back to 1933 and grow in fine albariza soils that provide great uniqueness. 20 months of aging in cement tanks, large wooden vats, and French oak barrels have resulted in a perfumed, concentrated, and juicy red wine.
In 2002, the union of the winemaking heritage of the families of Alberto Orte and Patrick Mata gave birth to the Compañía de Vinos del Atlántico, a winemaking giant present in 18 denominations of origin in Spain and Portugal, including Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Toro, Rueda, Rías Baixas, Priorat, Cádiz, Douro, and Alentejano. With the purpose of crafting unique wines that faithfully express the identity of their place of origin, the company boasts some of the best vineyards in these production areas.
