Familia Fernández Rivera Selection
A collection to commemorate a half-century
General information
We're celebrating our 50th birthday with one of our favourite winemaking groups, Familia Fernández Rivera, the creators of memorable wines such as Tinto Pesquera. To celebrate this anniversary, the Riveras have teamed up with Vinoselección to design a mixed case comprising five of their wines from their four wineries. An exclusive collection to commemorate our half-century of existence – and also that of the wine group, which was established in 1972 and celebrated its own 50th anniversary last year.
Since starting out our two companies have progressed hand in hand. In the early days Tinto Pesquera became a permanent fixture at the Club and throughout all this time it’s always played a leading role in various selections. This time we're offering you a unique and unrepeatable selection of wines made from Tempranillo grapes grown at the Fernández Rivera family's four wineries and from memorable vintages, 2019 and 2020.
The first is the winery’s original red, Tinto Pesquera Crianza 2020, from a year rated Excellent by the regulatory board of the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It’s unquestionably a living legend, an ambassador of Tempranillo and Ribera del Duero in all five continents. It’s been aged for 14 months in American oak and embodies all the character of the Tempranillo grown in Ribera del Duero.
Still in the D.O. Ribera del Duero, we bring you Condado de Haza Crianza 2020, also from an Excellent year. The main wine produced at the Fernández Rivera family’s château was grown on a 200-hectare vineyard located on a slope with poor soils and an ideal orientation. Also from there is the second vintage of the red 20 Aldeas 2019, Condado de Haza’s organic wine, which hass been aged for 14 months in barrels of different types and large 5,000-litre casks – a distinctive style among the group’s wines.
The fourth wine that makes up this pick is Dehesa La Granja 2019, made in the Tierra del Vino designation in the province of Zamora where the Fernández Riveras own a farm that combines cattle, local crops and vineyards. This red has been aged for 14 months in American oak barrels, a hallmark of the firm’s winemaking process.
Lastly, our Month’s Selection ends with El Vínculo Crianza 2019, a red produced by the family in Campo de Criptana, in the heart of the D.O. La Mancha. A wine that pays tribute to the grandfather of the winery’s currently managers, grown on old dry-farmed vineyards planted with the Tempranillo variety, his inspiration.
