Belmonte 8 meses 2021
A young Ribera de Duero from the highlands
The river Duero basin is home to Belmonte 8 meses 2021, a wine with fruity aromas and flavours from high-lying vineyards more than 30 years old.
General information
Belmonte 8 meses 2021 is a Ribera de Duero with a youthful character but deeply attached to the terroir. It was fermented at a low controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks to bring out its fruity flavours, as this process respects the natural aromas of the Tempranillo grapes, which were picked by hand from vineyards more than three decades old planted at an altitude of 940 metres. Following fermentation, the wine spent eight months in French oak barrels and a further two months in the bottle.
In the glass it displays a bright purplish-red colour. Notes of red fruit such as strawberries and cherries are the predominant aromas and flavours, together with herbs and minerally touches. Eight months in oak barrels have infused it with touches of cocoa and great structure. This is a nicely rounded red that’s long on the palate and very balanced.
The Belmonte winery, based in the part of Ribera del Duero located in the province of Burgos, designed this wine as a tribute to Tempranillo, the native grape variety in this area. It’s part of the Premium Fincas group, who have been producing top-quality wines in various Spanish wine regions for more than a century, all with the same idea: to express the terroir in all its glory.
Belmonte 8 meses 2021 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) is a perfect choice with baby lamb chops cooked over vine shoots or roast suckling pig.
