Located in Ribera del Duero’s golden mile, between Padilla de Duero and Peñafiel (Valladolid), Tamaral is a family-run winery that puts into practice the philosophy of effort, unhurried work and careful selection of the best terroirs. Its main asset is the estate it owns, located on a plain, which produces premium wines such as Tamaral Reserva 2020.

Tamaral Reserva 2020 is made wholly from Tempranillo grapes picked from vines that grow in the southern part of the plot the firm owns in Pesquera de Duero. This marvellous estate lies an altitude of more than 900 metres, with clay-loam soils and limited yields. The wine furthermore comes from an Excellent-rated vintage, that of 2020, which produced wines characterised by their freshness.
The wine underwent fermentation and maceration in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 26ºC. Maceration took place for 3 to 4 weeks with pumping-over several times daily. This red was finally aged for 14 months in new French and American oak barrels.
In 1985 a couple from Zamora, Ricardo Santiago and Carmen Torío, embarked on a research project together with a group of friends, several of them agricultural engineers, which materialised two years later in the founding of Bodegas y Viñedos Tamaral in Peñafiel in the heart of the Golden Mile of Ribera del Duero. The winery produces wines in moderate quantities, always giving preference to quality. It employs traditional agricultural techniques and cutting-edge equipment; and to make its wines it combines different types of vessels: stainless steel, concrete and wooden vats.
Its Tempranillo vines are between 30 and 100 years old and are situated between Peñafiel, Castrillo del Duero and Pesquera. The Pesquera de Duero estate is its greatest asset: located on a plain at 900 metres above sea level, with different types of soils. Thanks to its altitude it benefits from a broader range of temperatures, both between seasons and between night and day. The former is conducive to a good annual growth cycle of the vines and the latter to the ripening of the polyphenols, the development of aromas and a greater acidic balance in the berries.
Tamaral Reserva 2020 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) is ideal with roast meats, game, grilled vegetables and Ibérico pork.
