Quinta das Carvalhas 10 Year Old Tawny Porto is part of the classic wine line of the centenary Real Companhia Velha, one of the most emblematic wineries in Portugal. A magnificent port wine from the D.O.C. Douro with the richness of nuances from 10 years of aging.
Quinta das Carvalhas 10 Year Old Tawny Porto is one of the finest ports produced by Real Companhia Velha at their most spectacular estate: Quinta das Carvalhas, a property dating back to 1759 with 120 hectares of vineyards, located on the left bank of the Douro River, in the beautiful village of Pinhão.

The English term tawny refers to ports that, like this Quinta das Carvalhas 10 Year Old, are the result of a meticulous coupage of different wines from various harvests, crafted from native grape varieties, carefully selected and patiently aged in the highest quality oak barrels, in this case, for at least 10 years. The long aging process has given it a rich aromatic complexity and a concentrated palate, making it the perfect companion for chocolate desserts and soft, mild cheeses.

Tasting notes

To the eye, it displays a beautiful reddish color with golden hues.

Nose with aromas of ripe fruit integrated with hints of oak, honey, and spices.

On the palate, caramel and toffee notes dominate.

The winery

Founded in 1756 by a royal charter issued by José I of Portugal, Real Companhia Velha is the oldest winemaking company in the Portuguese territory and a true emblem in the Douro and Porto appellations.

The company boasts a heritage of 540 hectares of vineyards, distributed across some of the finest estates, mostly located on the left bank of the Douro River. Quinta das Carvalhas is the crown jewel. From this 600-hectare property, 120 of which are occupied by old vines, some up to 100 years old, come the most renowned wines of the brand, sold in over 45 countries, ranging from their Ruby Reserva to the vintages, including the more classic range of 10 and 20-year-old Ports or Tawny.
