Pruno is a red wine blessed by the guru Parker: rated in previous vintages as the best wine in the world for its value for money and as the best Spanish wine in history for under 20 dollars. Pruno 2023 keeps the bar very high.
Pruno 2023 is the result of meticulous work carried out in the different plots of Finca Villacreces (64 hectares), located in the ‘Golden Mile’ of Ribera del Duero. It is made from hand-harvested and carefully selected tempranillo, cabernet sauvignon, and merlot grapes, and aged for 10 months in barrels. A magnificent present and an even better future. A must-have.
In 2004, Artevino Family Wineries acquired Finca Villacreces, a spectacular estate in Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid), with vineyards adjacent to the legendary Vega Sicilia. After remodeling the existing winery (founded in 1994) and a meticulous vineyard recovery effort, Finca Villacreces began a successful journey to become one of the most outstanding wineries in Ribera del Duero. Pruno 2023 is their entry-level wine.
Intense cherry red with purplish rim. Intense aroma with complex and concentrated notes of toasted cocoa and caramel of café con leche, with a background of red fruit jam (blueberry and cherries). Mineral hint. Powerful, meaty, and with good structure. Broad, with good volume where well-integrated ripe tannins can be appreciated. Dark chocolate and balsamic hints of black licorice.
In 2004, the Artevino group acquired Finca Villacreces, a spectacular estate with centuries of history in a privileged location, within the area known as the ‘Golden Mile’ of Ribera del Duero, with vineyards adjacent to the legendary Vega Sicilia. After the renovation of the existing winery (founded in 1994) and meticulous work on vineyard recovery, Finca Villacreces embarked on a successful journey, becoming one of the most outstanding wineries in Ribera del Duero.
Finca Villacreces boasts 64 hectares of vineyards divided into 15 different plots (based on soil, altitude, exposure, microclimate, vine training systems…), and each variety is cultivated in the site where it best adapts. The main grape is tempranillo, complemented by other French-origin varieties such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot.
Finca Villacreces is part of the Artevino group and produces the brands Pruno (the best Spanish wine under $20 according to guru Robert Parker), Finca Villacreces, and the top-tier Nebro.
