Pruno is a red wine with the blessing of wine guru Parker: rated in previous vintages as the best wine in the world in terms of price-quality and as the best Spanish wine in history for under 20 dollars. Pruno 2021 sets the bar very high.
Pruno 2021 is the result of meticulous work carried out on different plots of Finca Villacreces (64 hectares), located in the ‘golden mile’ of Ribera del Duero. It is made with tempranillo (90%) and cabernet sauvignon (10%) grapes, harvested by hand and meticulously selected, with a maturing period of 12 months in the best French oak. A magnificent present and a better future. Essential.
In 2004 the Artevino group purchased Finca Villacreces, a spectacular estate in Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid), with vineyards neighbouring the legendary Vega Sicilia. After remodelling of the existing winery (founded in 1994), and meticulous restoration work on the vineyard, Finca Villacreces began a successful journey to become one of the most outstanding wineries of Ribera del Duero. Pruno 2021 is its entry-level wine.
An intense cherry red, with a purplish edge. Intense aroma, with complex, concentrated notes of toasted cocoa and white coffee with caramel, with a background of red fruit jam (cranberry and cherries). Mineral notes. Powerful, fleshy and well-structured. Broad, with a good volume where mature, well-integrated tannins are appreciated. Dark chocolate and balsamic hints of black liquorice.
In 2004, the Artevino group acquired Finca Villacreces, a spectacular estate with centuries of history in a privileged location, within the area known as the ‘Golden Mile’ of Ribera del Duero, with vineyards adjacent to the legendary Vega Sicilia. After the renovation of the existing winery (founded in 1994) and meticulous work on vineyard recovery, Finca Villacreces embarked on a successful journey, becoming one of the most outstanding wineries in Ribera del Duero.
Finca Villacreces boasts 64 hectares of vineyards divided into 15 different plots (based on soil, altitude, exposure, microclimate, vine training systems…), and each variety is cultivated in the site where it best adapts. The main grape is tempranillo, complemented by other French-origin varieties such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot.
Finca Villacreces is part of the Artevino group and produces the brands Pruno (the best Spanish wine under $20 according to guru Robert Parker), Finca Villacreces, and the top-tier Nebro.
