La Poda Tempranillo Mágnum 2021 (Excellent vintage) originates from 12 to 15-year-old vineyards located in the areas of Valladolid and Quintanilla, near the Viña Mayor winery. Manual harvest and grapes transported to the winery in 300 kg "picking bins". Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature with cold maceration. Finally, it underwent a light aging in French oak barrels. A red wine that won the Gold Medal in Gilbert & Gaillard for its 2019 vintage.
The story of Bodegas y Viñedos Viña Mayor began in 1986 in Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid). Today, it boasts an excellent position, with brands known worldwide and admired for their outstanding quality-to-price ratio. Innovation and respect for the environment -certification Wineries for Climate Protection (WfCP)- are two of its key attributes.
La Poda Tempranillo 2021 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) pairs wonderfully with a lamb shoulder with pan-fried potatoes.
Double the enjoyment with this mágnum format (150 cl).
The upward trajectory of Bodegas y Viñedos Viña Mayor, founded in Quintanilla de Onésimo in 1986, has run parallel to the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin, established four years earlier. The success of its two brands, Viña Mayor and Secreto, has only enhanced the reputation of a winery known worldwide and admired for the excellent value for money of its wines.
On the other hand, Viña Mayor is a company highly committed to caring for the planet: it works with plans for energy and water efficiency, resource consumption, and waste generation, which has led it to achieve the Wineries for Climate Protection certification, the only certification in Spain that endorses wineries working sustainably.
In February 2024, the Portuguese company Sogrape acquired the winery from the Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos group.
