El Perro Verde 2025 is a fine representative of the revival and appreciation of the verdejo grape variety, a wine that has helped bring the Rueda Denomination of Origin into the spotlight. This white wine, designed by Ángel Lorenzo Cachazo and his son Javier, is made entirely from grapes grown in vineyards located at 800 meters above sea level in Pozaldez, Ventosa de la Cuesta, La Seca, Rueda, and Medina del Campo. A fresh, delicious, and expressive wine thanks to the cultivation of the grapes on loose, low-compaction soils with abundant stones and limestone, under the influence of a continental climate with Atlantic nuances.
Its origin dates back to 1987, when Ángel Lorenzo Cachazo, from a family with a winemaking tradition, began his solo journey by founding his own winery, Martivilli. Two decades later, in 2005, Ángel Lorenzo and his son Javier joined the Uvas Felices project, born from the association of several Spanish winemakers with the aim of presenting wines from different regions of the country. Within the framework of this winemaking project, the design of El Perro Verde was conceived.
The grapes used to produce this Rueda white wine were carefully harvested in September and, once in the winery, underwent destemming, crushing, and maceration for approximately six hours. After pressing, the must was fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The freshness and aromatic richness displayed by El Perro Verde 2025 (D.O. Rueda) make it the ideal pairing for cold appetizers, seafood, fish, and Asian cuisine dishes.
El Perro Verde displays a pale yellow color, clean and bright.
On the nose, it is intense and seductive, with pleasant aromas of white flowers, tropical and stone fruits reminiscent of green pineapple, passion fruit, and peach, along with a backdrop of citrus notes of lemon peel and aromatic herbs such as fennel and spearmint.
On the palate, it is a festival of fruit with a silky texture and vibrant freshness. Intense and fresh final notes of lime, with a delicate saline finish.
