Oda 2022 is a red wine made from the most meticulous selection of grapes of the Garnacha, Tempranillo, Syrah, and Merlot varieties, sourced from vineyards located in the Lleida regions of La Noguera, L´Urgell, La Segarra, and the mountains of Les Garrigues at over 500 meters above sea level, with soils of clay, silt, and gravel. It is a complex and robust wine with great depth and notes that blend spices with ripe fruit.

Oda 2022 is a red wine belonging to the D.O. Costers del Segre and produced by the Castell del Remei winery. It is born from a coupage of the grape varieties Garnacha, Tempranillo, Syrah, and Merlot from vineyards with an average age of 20 years, located at over 500 meters above sea level. These factors contribute to the creation of a deep and complex red wine, with the nobility of Bordeaux varieties and the roundness achieved through precise aging in the finest barrels.

Castell del Remei is a benchmark in the Denomination of Origin Costers del Segre. Founded by winemaker and viticulturist Tomàs Cusiné Barber, the winery dates back to 1780, when Ignasi Girona Vilanova’s father cultivated the estate influenced by French viticulture. It is the oldest winery in Catalonia dedicated to producing fine aged wines. Additionally, it owns approximately 100 hectares of vineyards where native varieties such as Garnacha, Tempranillo, Cariñena, Trepat, Malvasía, and Macabeo are cultivated, alongside other French-origin vines introduced to the estate in the 19th century, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Following a philosophy of sustainable agriculture, Tomàs Cusiné crafts this magnificent red wine from the D.O. Costers del Segre. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, it undergoes a carefully considered aging process in American and French oak barrels for several months. A minimum of 6 months in the bottle refines Oda 2022, a red wine that pairs perfectly with cured meats, semi-cured and aged cheeses, game, meat-based rice dishes, vegetables, stews, and mushrooms.

Tasting notes

Cherry color with vibrant highlights and high layer.

On the nose, aging aromas, cedar, and balsamic notes appear. When aerated, notes of candied black fruit with a mineral hint emerge.

The tannic entry with sweet nuances gives way to acidity, which extends on the palate and provides a dried fruit aftertaste.

The winery

Castell del Remei is a benchmark winery in the Denomination of Origin Costers del Segre. It belongs to the winemaker and viticulturist Tomàs Cusiné Barber, who is also the owner of the wineries of the same name and Cérvoles Celler.

The origins of the winery date back to the year 1780, when the father of Don Ignasi Girona Vilanova cultivated the estate influenced by French viticulture. It is the oldest winery in Catalonia for producing fine aged wines, as well as the first Catalan winery built following the Bordeaux-style château model surrounded by vineyards.

The estate has a Mediterranean-continental climate, characterized by a wide thermal variation between its very cold winters and very hot summers, with low rainfall and average humidity.

The winery has approximately 100 hectares of vineyards at an altitude between 700 and 800 meters, on clay-loam soils with abundant gravel, which allows for good drainage. Additionally, it works with native grape varieties such as garnacha, tempranillo, cariñena, trepat, malvasía, and macabeo; to which are added French-origin vines introduced to the estate in the 19th century, with varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, syrah, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc.

With Castell del Remei, they have sought to achieve the maximum expression of the terroir and mountain vineyards, with an average vine age exceeding 25 years, practicing ecological and sustainable vineyard management. In the aging areas, the winery has 1000 barrels of French and American oak.
