General Information
Neo Reserva 2020 comes from a vintage with an Excellent rating in Ribera del Duero. It’s a single-varietal made from Tempranillo grapes grown on plots located in La Horra, which is widely regarded as the best part of the Denominación. The vines they were picked from, between 50 and 60 years old, are gobelet trained and have very low yields of 1,500 kg/ha.
The grapes were harvested by hand in 16-kg crates during the first half of October and transported to the winery in 3,000-kg trailer loads. They were macerated at a controlled temperature for 22 days. The red was finally aged for a long 30 months in new French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels.
Bodegas y Viñedos Neo (1999) is one of the most dynamic firms in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It started out in an old watermill in Aranda de Duero (Burgos) and the high scores it received from influential critics such as Robert Parker (The Wine Advocate) and Jancis Robinson and publications like Decanter attracted worldwide attention in record time.
