Three friends who were passionate about wine – and music – founded Neo in 1999. Their wines soon caught the attention of the most influential critics. Neo is a modern winery located in Castrillo de la Vega (Burgos), and we immediately felt a connection with it: it was love at first sight. We are lucky to be able to offer you exclusive wines from this winery from time to time. The latest arrival is the top N de Neo Reserva 2016. It's currently at its best – pleasant to drink and deliciously mature with exceptional balance. It comes from an outstanding vintage and was grown on half-century-old Tempranillo vines with very low yields. A delight for the senses.

General Information
N de Neo Reserva 2016 comes from an exceptional vintage in the D.O. Ribera del Duero and is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes. It comes from vineyards located in Aranda de Duero and Castrillo de la Vega, two municipalities in the province of Burgos, the latter where the winery is based. The vines are 50 years old on average and are bush-trained, with very low yields of 2,500 kg/ha, and grow in sandy and clay soils. With ingredients like these high quality is guaranteed.
The grapes were harvested by hand in 16-kg crates during one week in October and transported to the winery in 3,000-kg trailers. Maceration took place over 25 days in a single 10,000 kg stainless steel tank. Fermentation was controlled with showers at 26º C to ensure greater extraction of colour and aroma. The resulting wine was aged for 24 months in new oak barrels (80% French and 20% American).
Bodegas y Viñedos Neo (1999) is one of the most dynamic firms in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It started out in an old watermill in Aranda de Duero (Burgos) and attracted worldwide attention in record time thanks to high scores from influencers as important as Robert Parker (The Wine Advocate) and Jancis Robinson and publications like Decanter.
Since 2005 the firm has had new premises in Castrillo de la Vega (Burgos): a modern, young, fresh and groundbreaking winery equipped with cutting-edge winemaking technology and a fun décor in which a figure of Mazinger Z and the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars enjoy pride of place.
The secret of Bodegas y Viñedos Neo’s success is none other than a good choice of vineyards. Respect for the region’s grape-growing tradition and a non-interventionist approach make the firm’s wines ambassadors of the best the Ribera del Duero area has to offer.
Music, especially rock and roll, is the other great passion of Neo’s creators. The winery even incorporates a recording studio designed by Philip Newell, creator of the legendary Abbey Road studios that are associated with the Beatles. They also masterminded the famous Sonorama Ribera festival that’s held in Aranda de Duero and their commitment to quality music is undeniable, as is their dedication in all the processes involved in making their wines, which enjoy an excellent reputation in fifty or so international markets.
