General Information

The tempranillo grapes that make up Montecillo Singladuras Ribera del Duero 2022 come from selected plots in the Fuentecen area (Burgos). A vineyard at 700 meters altitude, cultivated in bush vines, on calcareous and stony soils.

For the production of Montecillo Singladuras Ribera del Duero, the selected grapes were cold macerated in stainless steel tanks, with the aim of obtaining maximum color intensity and aromas. After alcoholic fermentation at 22ºC in contact with their skins, lasting 17 days, malolactic fermentation was initiated in small steel tanks. The resulting wine was refined with 5 months of aging in new American oak barrels.

Bodegas Montecillo is one of the oldest and most emblematic wineries of the Rioja Designation of Origin. Founded in 1870 by Celestino Matute in the Rioja town of Fuenmayor, the house thus has more than 150 years of history. Since 1973, the winery has been part of Grupo Osborne and is currently one of the leading brands in aged wines.

Bodegas Montecillo embarks towards Ribera del Duero to produce Montecillo Singladuras Ribera del Duero 2022. A friendly red wine, perfect for everyday use, that pairs with all kinds of tapas, cheeses, and cold cuts. Also suitable with Castilian cuisine dishes, stews, and roasted meats.

Tasting notes

Montecillo Singladuras Ribera del Duero exhibits an attractive cherry red color with great intensity, with a bluish rim and violet reflections.

On the nose, when still, it offers the characteristic aromas of tempranillo, ripe red fruit with cherry notes. After oxygenation, it unfolds sweet notes wrapped in red licorice.

On the palate, it is tremendously fruity, powerful, and very lively. With balanced acidity, a long, warm, and very seductive finish.

The winery

Bodegas Montecillo

Bodegas Montecillo was founded in 1870 by Celestino Navajas Matute, being the oldest winery in the municipality of Fuenmayor and the third oldest winery of the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Since 1973, Montecillo has belonged to the Osborne Family, and today it has become one of the benchmarks for long-aged wines. It produces the Clásica range (Crianza, Reserva, Gran Reserva, a white and a rosé), signature wines, and the Viña Monty range, which represents the most avant-garde winemaking trend of the centenary winery, committed to traditional production with a renewed approach.

Bodegas Montecillo has underground cellars that house vintages dating back to 1926, as well as an impressive manual bottle rack.
