General Information
Matanegra Reserva 2020 reflects a philosophy characterised by a commitment to authenticity, respect for the environment and excellence in every detail. Produced by the Pagos de Matanegra winery, located in Olmedillo de Roa (Burgos), this wine comes from the heart of the D.O. Ribera del Duero, in an extremely high-lying area – more than 950 metres above sea level – which gives its wines character and freshness. The 2020 vintage was rated Excellent by the regulatory board, further enhancing the value of this Reserva made exclusively from Tempranillo grapes from old vineyards, some more than 60 years old, grown on vines that are over a century old.
The winery practises organic grape growing with minimal intervention and works with very low yields to ensure maximum concentration and quality in each bunch. The grapes are harvested by hand and are sorted in the vineyard and in the winery. The wine has been aged for 18 months in French oak barrels to give it complexity, structure and elegance without masking the expression of the fruit.
Matanegra Reserva 2020 is a deeply nuanced wine with superb ageing potential, combining potency and finesse. It’s available exclusively from Vinoselección in a limited batch designed for lovers of great Ribera del Duero reds.

The vineyards of Pagos de Matanegra grow in the heart of Ribera del Duero, in the privileged golden triangle, famous for offering the most sought-after grapes. The name Matanegra comes from the terroir where some of the best grapes of Ribera del Duero are obtained. Nestled in a privileged soil, especially suitable for the cultivation of Tempranillo. The small winery Pagos de Matanegra defines itself as a new generation of boutique wineries, with the sole aim of creating the best wine possible. Its small productions allow for meticulous control and care throughout the creative process.
