As it passes through Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, the Sonsierra shapes the most emblematic enclave of high-quality Rioja vineyards. However, not everyone knows that it has a Navarrese part. The Marco Real winery has been committed to this highly valuable enclave for over two decades. Here, in the Navarrese Sonsierra, it produces Marco Real Lazos 2019, a cabernet sauvignon aged for 14 months in barrels, which displays great energy, length, and finesse in the glass. It also stands out for its freshness and its fruity notes with elegant cedar. A very pleasant red wine rated with 90 points on the world's most famous list: the so-called Parker points.

Marco Real Lazos 2019, 100% cabernet sauvignon, is sourced from vineyards located in the Navarrese Sonsierra, which provide grapes of great concentration. The harvest took place during the coolest hours of the night, and the grapes underwent an initial maceration of 4 to 5 days in small stainless steel tanks. During this time, a slow fermentation began with selected yeasts, allowing the variety to gently express its full character.
Through a precise combination of delestage and pumping over at key moments, extraction and maceration were enhanced, which continued for an additional 12 days after fermentation. Pressing was done gently, and the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in smaller stainless steel tanks. It was then transferred to fine-grain French oak barrels from Vosges. These handcrafted barrels, of which only 300 units are produced annually, undergo a natural drying process of 60 months. The aging process lasted 12 months in these same barrels.
As it passes through Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, the Sonsierra forms the most iconic enclave of high-quality Rioja vineyards. However, not everyone knows that it also has a Navarrese part. The Rioja, Alavesa, and Navarrese parts of the Sonsierra share altitude, latitude, ‘terroir,’ and microclimate. The Marco Real winery recognizes the value of this enclave and has been committed to cultivating in this area for two decades. Of the 60 hectares of vineyards owned by Bodegas Marco Real, 49 are located in the Navarrese Sonsierra, in the municipalities of Torres del Río and Sansol, at an altitude of 500 m.
The red Marco Real Lazos 2019 (D.O. Navarra) is perfect for pairing with dishes such as roasted lamb and chocolate desserts with red fruits.
