Mar de Frades 2023 is a Galician white wine made from grapes grown in the heart of the Salnés Valley, an authentic area where the Albariño varietal expresses itself with the most purity. The harvest was carried out manually, and once at the winery, the clusters were placed on a selection table so that only the best grapes would make up this white wine. The must fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts that help respect the expression of the terroir. Subsequently, the wine remained at rest, aging on its lees until bottling, gaining volume and creaminess.
The Mar de Frades winery is part of the group of wineries led by the Rioja-based Ramón Bilbao (Zamora Company). In 2007, Mar de Frades renovated a classic winery and inaugurated facilities equipped with the latest technologies, located in Meis (Pontevedra). Alongside these, there is a magnificent estate vineyard of Albariño: the Finca Valiñas, which extends over the slope of a hill overlooking the Salnés Valley.
Mar de Frades 2023 is a wine from the D.O. Rías Baixas that pairs perfectly with raw fish such as tuna tartare, all kinds of seafood, seafood rice dishes, octopus, and Japanese cuisine.
Founded in 1987 by a group of winegrowers from the Salnés area, Bodegas Mar de Frades is currently part of the Zamora Group, which is led by the third generation of this family saga. A pioneering winery in the production of high-quality albariños, since 2007, with its new facilities, it stands majestically facing the Arosa estuary. The winemaking building where the wines are born is equipped with the latest technologies applied to winemaking, combining stainless steel tanks with noble woods.
Mar de Frades works with more than 150 winegrowers from the area; additionally, the winery owns nearly 60 hectares of vineyards, a heritage that, in a region dominated by smallholdings, makes it one of the largest vineyard owners in the D.O. Rías Baixas.
