Vines over 60 years old in the French locality of Fixin, in the Côte d´Or department, give rise to La Maison Romane Fixin Les Clos 2021, a red wine made from 100% pinot noir, cultivated on stony limestone and clay soils using organic and biodynamic methods.
With a prior selection in the vineyard, where manual harvesting is carried out, another careful selection of the grapes is performed in the winery. The grapes are vinified in open vats with whole clusters, aiming to preserve the aromas and the silky structure of the variety. After fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine undergoes aging in French oak barrels, without added sulfites, for a period of 15 to 19 months.
La Maison Romane was founded in 2005 by winemaker Oronce de Beler, a Parisian who decided to leave metropolitan life and move to Burgundy. After completing his professional training at the school of viticulture and oenology, he established his winery at the foot of an old 16th-century house in the town of Vosne Romanée. For Oronce, oenology is as important as viticulture, and wine is produced through the union of nature and human effort. His respect for the environment is evident in his vineyard work, practicing organic and biodynamic farming while following the lunar calendar.
This unique biodynamic pinot noir, with great aging potential, belongs to the AOC Fixin. Pair it with grilled pork, small game dishes, cured meats, and roasted red meats.
Ruby red color with some tile-like hues, clean and bright.
On the nose, it is straightforward, presenting aromas of red and black fruits and a subtle wild touch of fur and musk.
On the palate, those nose memories return. Blackcurrant berries, cherry, and blackberries. It has good acidity, structure, and as the wine ages, it softens and rounds out, losing the initial astringency.
