Founded in 1776, Louis Roederer is about to celebrate 250 years of history, having become one of the great myths in the world of wine. Louis Roederer Brut Collection 243 is a unique blend made from a perpetual reserve of wines from vintages ranging from 2012 to 2018 and other wines that have remained in oak barrels from 2012 to 2017. A true artisanal work and a marvel of elegance and complexity. ARTICLE: Louis Roederer Brut Collection 243 is a ‘coupage’ composed of the three classic champagne varieties: chardonnay (42%), pinot noir (40%), and meunier (18%). One third of the vineyard comes from the Rivière, another third from the Montagne, and another from the Côte.
The 'maison' Louis Roederer defines each new edition of its Collection as “a free verse, a new chapter in the House's universe of taste. Always singular.” This blend no. 243 has been composed of 31% Perpetual Reserve (vintages 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017), 10% of Reserve wines aged in large wooden vats (2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017); and 59% of the 2018 harvest. 26% of the wines underwent malolactic fermentation.
The maturity of the 2018 vintage gives this champagne a warm and luscious style. On the other hand, the Perpetual Reserve created in 2012 adds freshness and complexity; while the Reserve wines aged in large wooden vats are perceived in a fine woody texture.
Louis Roederer Brut Collection 243 (A.O.C. Champagne) is ideal for appetizers (savory pastries, Iberian ham, or creamy cheeses like Camembert). During meals, it can be enjoyed with fish such as baked turbot or with Japanese food such as salmon sashimi, shrimp, etc.
Bright golden color with iridescent reflections. Fine and dynamic effervescence that extends into a very persistent cord.
Immediate bouquet, both broad and beautifully fresh. A range of ripe but delicate fruits among which we precisely find yellow fruits (mirabelle plums) from the Pinot noir as well as sweet citrus (lemon tart) and delicate aromas of white flowers (jasmine) from the Chardonnay. After a few minutes, autolysis notes appear in the form of smoke and lightly toasted pastry.
Dense and deep palate, rich and structured weave. The texture mesmerizes as the fleshy matter of the Pinot noir from "la Montagne" sways in the mouth and extends into immense saline freshness with a hint of bitterness. Simultaneous impression of strength, richness, and power of the Pinots noirs with a masterful maturity deliciously balanced by the limestone freshness and density of the Chardonnays that dominate this blend.
Founded in 1776 and owned by the same family since 1819, Louis Roederer is one of the great Champagne houses. The sixth generation of the family firm, represented by Frédéric Rouzaud, manages an extraordinary 240-hectare vineyard estate composed exclusively of Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards.
Louis Roederer has been considered the most prestigious Champagne Maison in history by the Revue du Vin de France. Among its champagnes are the legendary Roederer Cristal, the renowned Brut Premier, awarded in 2013 and 2017 as the best Non-Vintage Champagne in the World, and the Cristal Rosé, recently recognized as the best champagne in the world at ‘The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships’.
