Léon Beyer
Winery

Léon Beyer is an iconic French winery located in the heart of Alsace, a region internationally renowned for its outstanding white wines. It is one of the most famous names among the winemakers of the area and a true classic among French producers.

Léon Beyer is based in the town of Eguisheim, a charming village with a winemaking tradition that dates back to 1580, when the art of viticulture was passed down from generation to generation with excellent results. There, around 1867, Emilio Beyer decided to establish the winery. Today, the company is run by Marc and Yann Beyer, son and grandson of the renowned Léon Beyer, who for many years was the person in charge of leading this prestigious winemaking project.

The family-owned vineyards are located on rich and diverse lands that benefit from a unique and ideal climate for cultivating native grape varieties such as riesling, gewurztraminer, pinot gris, sylvaner, muscat, and pinot blanc. High-quality grapes that faithfully reflect the identity of each terroir, thanks to the combination of different soils and specific microclimates. Notably, Léon Beyer owns some of the best vineyards in Alsace, such as Grand Cru Eichberg and Grand Cru Pfersigberg.

The winery is carved into the hillside beneath its vineyards. The wines produced there are made following strict rules for pressing, vinification, and aging. Thanks to meticulous work in the field and the facilities, the Alsatian winery achieves wines with character, freshness, harmony, and a complexity that evolves over the years.

In addition to the characteristic Alsatian white wines, which are dry and fruity but have a distinctive and easily recognizable style, the French house also produces what they call ‘eau de vie’ (water of life), a type of fruit brandy that is very famous in the Alsace region.

Léon Beyer produces around one million bottles per year. Eighty percent of this production is exported beyond its borders to more than 60 countries. Some of their finest wines can be found on the wine lists of the best restaurants in the world.
