General Information

The blend of Lallier R.019 Brut includes 55% of the red grape pinot noir and 45% of the white grape chardonnay, the two most important varieties in the production of champagnes. The grapes come 88% from the 2019 vintage, with the remaining 12% composed of reserve wines (2018, 2012 harvests). It has a long aging period of 36 months, which gives it a wonderful complexity. After disgorgement, it remained in the cellar for a minimum of 3 more months before being released to the market.

This results in a champagne with aromas of fresh citrus (lemon and mandarin), delicate touches of white fruits (peach and green apple), and light hints of brioche and spices. At the beginning of the tasting, it is straightforward and intense, opening with a delicate fruitiness and a silky texture. The finish is long and deep with a magnificent aromatic persistence.

With the R. series, Lallier aims to offer a reflection on the wines of the harvest of a specific year. This label “captures the purest individuality of the Champagne terroir and interprets it each year through a renewed expression,” according to the winery.

Lallier R.019 Brut (A.O.C. Champagne) pairs well with seafood such as cooked spider crabs or brown crabs, or with dishes like lobster soupy rice.

The winery

Founded in 1906, Lallier is an artisanal winery producing exceptional Champagne wines, with facilities located in the village of Oger, in the Champagne region. The winery owes its name to René James Lallier, a member of the fifth generation of a renowned family of Champagne makers. With the arrival of winemaker Francis Tribaut in 2004, the Champagnes of this house took a new qualitative leap. Currently, Lallier specializes in the production of exceptional Champagnes from vineyards officially classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru.
