General Information

LABUENAUVA 2023 is a single-varietal Tempranillo. The grapes it’s made from come from selected vineyards on Finca La Planta, an estate owned by the Arzuaga Navarro family, located a few kilometres from the winery, in the heart of Ribera del Duero. The altitude of 911 m, the calcareous-clay soil and the continental climate give the estate very particular characteristics, which are reflected both in the grapes and in the wine.

The grapes were harvested by hand in 15-kg crates. At the winery, the bunches were selected, destemmed and vatted for three days of cold pre-fermentative maceration in stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation then took place for 7 days at 22ºC. Finally, the wine was aged for 6 months in French and American oak barrels.

Florentino Arzuaga chose one of the most exceptional areas of Ribera del Duero, the municipality of Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid) to establish his winery: Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro (1987). He began by planting the Finca La Planta estate and continued to increase the vineyard area to the more than 200 hectares that he currently owns and set about building facilities, which are also a major wine tourism centre.

La Planta is the winery's most prized estate. It’s home to a spectacular 70-hectare vineyard on gentle slopes, surrounded by pines, junipers and holm oaks and a game reserve where deer and wild boar can be spotted.

LABUENAUVA 2023 (D.O. Ribera del Duero) is ideal with rice dishes with meat or a Waygu burger.

Tasting notes

Clean, bright, intensely pigmented cherry-red colour with a crimson rim. High aromatic intensity, with a great variety of fruits, predominant hints of red fruits, sour strawberries and cherries, together with notes of woodland and resin, mineral touches and dark-roasted aromas characteristic of its period in oak barrels. Balance and harmony between all the taste components. This is a structured, fleshy wine that’s surprisingly smooth and fresh.

The winery

Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro

Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro is one of the quality benchmarks of Ribera del Duero and one of the great wineries of our country. It produces modern wines with a fruit-forward expression, powerful yet elegant and balanced, and with a marked character of what a great Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero has to offer.

The brilliant journey of Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro began in the early nineties thanks to the determination of Florentino Arzuaga, a hospitality entrepreneur who sought to establish a cutting-edge winery project on the banks of the Duero. To achieve this, he chose one of the most privileged areas of this production zone, which was then in full expansion: the municipality of Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid), in the area known as the “golden mile” of Ribera del Duero, where illustrious names such as Vega Sicilia and Finca Villacreces are located.

The winery's first vineyard was planted in the early nineties at Finca La Planta, a 1400-hectare estate located a few kilometers from the facilities, at an altitude of over 900 meters on clay-limestone soil, giving it very particular characteristics. Finca La Planta today hosts 70 hectares of vineyards.

In addition to La Planta, Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro owns other estates in the municipalities of Quintanilla de Onésimo and on the plateau of Olivares de Duero, and continues to undertake new plantations, all organically farmed.

Furthermore, Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro has become one of the main wine tourism destinations in Ribera del Duero: it features a hotel, spa, and restaurant, as well as offering visits to Finca La Planta, where deer and wild boar can be spotted.
