La Vendimia 2021 is a very pleasant and fresh young red and the most reasonable Rioja from the great Álvaro Palacios, a key figure in Spanish wine and creator of the legendary L'Ermita. This smooth coupage is part of the family winery’s portfolio, established and working in Alfaro since 1945.

A balanced blend of Garnacha and Tempranillo makes up La Vendimia 2021, the youngest and fruitiest wine from Palacios Remondo, Álvaro Palacios' family winery, which he returned to in 2000, after the death of his father, founder and owner, to take over the technical management.
This lively and versatile coupage comes from vines between 10 and 40 years old, located in the Rioja Baja or Eastern Rioja, as Palacios himself likes to call it. The vines were worked organically and the fruit was meticulously selected by hand. Once in the winery, it underwent spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats, with pumping over. Maceration lasted 20 days and malolactic fermentation also took place spontaneously. After ageing 30% of the wine in oak barrels and oak foudre, the coupage was produced with the red wine matured in tanks.
The 2021 vintage is a great business card for Bodegas Palacios Remondo. Under the guidance of Álvaro Palacios, the firm is currently experiencing a new phase based on the long family winemaking tradition and respect for the vineyard and the terroir, fundamentals that bring its creations closer to the concept of pago or single estate wines.
A clean, bright ruby red colour with some purplish reflections.
In the nosing phase, fruity notes and other lighter spicy ones stand out.
Taste is fresh and easy to drink.
