Bodegas Emilio Moro is one of the most important wineries in the D.O. Ribera del Duero. Its success is based on the right combination of traditional practices, respect for the vineyard and terroir, and the latest technology in the service of producing great wines. This philosophy is embodied in creations such as La Felisa 2022, their first red wine born from vineyards with organic certification.
The Moro brothers wanted to pay tribute to their mother with a pioneering wine. Three years of work culminated in its creation, and La Felisa 2022 that the Club brings to you is their latest vintage. For its production, grapes of tinto fino (tempranillo) from organic vineyards between 15 and 25 years old, planted at an altitude of 900 meters, in clay-loam soils were used. The 15 days that the grapes macerated with their skins in the winery and the subsequent aging in French oak made it an intense and concentrated Ribera in color, aromas, and flavor.
La Felisa is a purplish wine, very intense and striking. On the nose, it is intense, with a lot of personality, where a marked presence of fresh, red, and black fruits can be appreciated. The ensemble highlights a characteristic floral aroma of violets and citrus and licorice notes, making its aromatic expression something extremely unique and surprising. On the palate, it is voluminous and structured, with balanced acidity and a fresh and persistent aftertaste.
Bodegas Emilio Moro is among the wineries that have most contributed to showcasing the excellence of Ribera del Duero wines beyond our borders. It is the story of a family of winemakers with a tradition spanning several generations, who have managed to position their wines among the most highly regarded worldwide; in fact, it was recently nominated for the Best European Winery award by the influential American magazine ‘Wine Enthusiast,’ which recognized it as the best in Spain. Located in Pesquera de Duero, in a privileged enclave of the Ribera del Duero, it is currently led by Javier Moro (president), heir to the love for wine of his grandfather and father, both named Emilio.
This Valladolid-based winery has always been committed to producing wines deeply connected to their terroir, convinced that it is the soil that gives them personality. It owns nearly 400 hectares of its own vineyards, planted and grafted with a clone of tempranillo recovered from its oldest vines, which undoubtedly provides fruits of extraordinary quality, with great color, character, and nuances. Among the most emblematic plots of the winery are Resalso (planted in 1933, the year Emilio Moro, father of the current owners, was born); Valderramiro, with the oldest vines of the winery and the cradle of the great wine Malleolus de Valderramiro; Sanchomartín and Camino Viejo, from which the red wine Malleolus is born.
In 2016, Bodegas Emilio Moro embarked on a new project, for the first time, outside Ribera del Duero, under the Bierzo designation of origin, where they have three labels. Since 2023, they have owned a winery in the area. Currently, they have over 60 hectares dedicated to the godello grape.
