Viñas Familia Gil stands for diversity, authenticity and personality. Its philosophy is based on two factors: native varieties cultivated in perfect environments. The wine we’re offering you, created from local grapes grown on unique vineyards, is based on these maxims.
From their native Jumilla, the origin of all their ventures, we bring you Juan Gil Cuvée Especial 2021, a red based on the Monastrell variety grown on some spectacular dry-farmed vineyards that produce low yields of fine quality grapes to ensure the best results.
The latest winemaking technology and very careful barrel ageing result in a markedly Mediterranean wine that reflects all the personality and maturity of the Monastrell variety. The strong presence of the fruit and high-quality tannins give it a marvellous velvety mouthfeel and showcase the potential of the local grape in all its glory. A must-have for understanding the Mediterranean wines from southeast Spain.
Displays a cherry-red colour of good intensity.
Nice intense nose, with prominent aromas of herbs and underbrush together with hints of small forest fruits, which give way to spicy notes and a balsamic background.
Balanced and flavoursome with body and excellent acidity. Very aromatic, supple and fresh; long, lingering finish with a pleasant balsamic impression.
Juan Gil Cuvée Especial 2021 springs from the good rapport between Vinoselección’s managers and the Gil family. Following the success enjoyed by the first three vintages (2016, 2019, 2020), we’ve now brought out the fourth edition of Juan Gil Cuvée Especial 2021. It comes from an Excellent-rated harvest and the Monastrell grapes that went into making it were grown on old, dry-farmed vineyards at an altitude of about 700 metres in the area of Jumilla known as ‘Término de Arriba’, whose climate conditions are ideal for growing this native variety.
