Jean Dumangin Premier Cru Brut originates from one of the most sought-after areas in the Champagne region: Grande Montagne de Reims, specifically in the village of Chigny-les-Roses, classified as "Premier Cru". It bears the hallmark of the Dumangin family, owners of a small artisanal winery. It is the result of the traditional combination of chardonnay, pinot noir, and meunier grape varieties. After 5 years of aging, it reveals an expressive nose, smooth texture, structure and length on the palate, and a pronounced mineral character.

General Information

Jean Dumangin Premier Cru Brut is made with the traditional varietal trilogy of champagnes: chardonnay (40%), pinot noir (30%), and meunier (30%), with 50% reserve wines. The vineyards are located in Grande Montagne de Reims, one of the most sought-after areas of the A.O.C. Champagne. Specifically, it comes from the vineyards of Chigny-les-Roses, Ludes, Rilly-la-Montagne, Taissy, and Cormontreuil (Premier Cru), with an average age of 35 years. The harvest was carried out manually.

The production of this champagne followed the traditional 'champenoise' method, with two fermentations (the first in tanks and the second in the bottle). Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation took place in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks. With great care, the riddling of the bottles (to ensure the sediments settle in the neck of the bottle) was done manually on racks. It has an aging period of 5 years.

The Champagne Jean Dumangin winery is located in Chigny-les-Roses, a village classified as "Premier Cru," situated on the slopes of the Montagne de Reims. In this small house, the Dumangin family has been producing great champagnes for several generations, sourced from some of the finest terroirs of the A.O.C. It owns 9 hectares of vineyards, most of which are classified as "Premier Cru."

Jean Dumangin Premier Cru Brut (A.O.C. Champagne) is ideal to pair with Iberian ham, all kinds of cooked seafood, or lobster rice.

Tasting notes

Producing an exuberant and long-lasting bubble, this pale golden champagne is expressive and generous on the nose with notes of white fruits (apple, pear), not forgetting fresh grapes and an exotic touch (lychee, mango). Smooth on the attack, we discover a well-structured wine with a length on the palate characteristic of the best vintages. The aromatic expression is clearly mineral.
