The latest vintage
The Fernández Rivera family make memorable wines such as Tinto Pesquera, the red that marked a new milestone in Ribera del Duero and a new style that earned the Denominación worldwide fame. At Vinoselección we’re lucky enough to have been friends with this family ever since they started out in Pesquera de Duero back in the 1970s. Since then we’ve been closely monitoring each of their new wineries, being the first to present many of their wines. And they’ve demonstrated that their wines are a success whatever region they’re made in. Since 2023 we’ve been offering you a mixed case made up of five reds from their four wineries. This collection is always a big hit, and we’ve now got the latest version with the new 2022 vintage.
It includes Tinto Pesquera Crianza 2022, the latest vintage of a legend; 20 Aldeas 2022, the group’s first organic wine; Condado de Haza Crianza 2022, made, like the previous one, at the ‘château’ the family own on the banks of the river Duero; Dehesa La Granja 2022, produced on their estate in the Tierra del Vino de Zamora; and El Vínculo Crianza 2022, their great La Mancha red. General information
The collection begins with the wine made by the group’s first winery, Tinto Pesquera Crianza 2022, a living legend in the Spanish wine world. This red is an ambassador for Tempranillo and Ribera del Duero in all five continents. It’s been aged for 16 months in American oak and expresses all the character of the Tempranillo variety grown in Ribera del Duero.
From the D.O. Ribera del Duero too, the second wine in the collection is Condado de Haza Crianza 2022. The leading wine made at the Fernández Rivera family’s ‘château’, it was grown in a 200-hectare vineyard located on a hillside with low-yielding, perfectly oriented soils. Also from here is Condado de Haza’s organic wine: 20 Aldeas 2022, a red that’s been aged for 12 months in large oak barrels, and this new vintage was made under the D.O. Ribera del Duero.
The fourth wine is Dehesa La Granja 2022, produced in the Tierra del Vino de Zamora region, where the Fernández Rivera family own a superb estate with a century-old underground cellar. Its famous reds, such as this Tempranillo that’s been aged for 15 months in American oak, mature in darkness and silence.
The collection ends with El Vínculo Crianza 2022, the red produced by the family in Campo de Criptana, in the heart of the D.O. La Mancha. A tribute to the grandfather of the winery’s current managers, it comes from valuable old, dry-farmed vineyards where their pet grape variety, Tempranillo, is grown.
