Gregorio Martínez Finca Tempranillo 2015 is part of the estate wine line from Bodegas Gregorio Martínez, with which the Rioja winery seeks to showcase the expression of its unique terroir. Vineyards aged 34 years, planted in ferritic clay soils with sand and tertiary rocks, with a north-facing orientation, at 700 meters above sea level, in one of the highest areas of Rioja Alta, contribute all the character to a red wine aged for 17 months in French oak, which in the glass is fun, fresh, and mature at the same time.

Tasting notes

High layer and cherry red color.

Nose of seasoned red and black fruit over a background of blue flowers (lilacs) and subtle balsamic notes. When swirling the glass, earthy notes are added.

On the palate, it is broad and fresh. Silky tannins and a very long finish with balsamic touches.

The winery

At the foothills of the Moncalvillo and Camero mountain ranges, on a privileged balcony overlooking the valleys of the Ebro and Iregua, lies the vineyard of Bodegas Gregorio Martínez, at an average altitude of 700 meters above sea level, in one of the highest areas of Rioja Alta.

The origins of the winery date back to the 1970s, led by Gregorio Martínez, a viticulturist who, over the years, consolidated the estate by bringing together parcels from the nearby areas of Logroño, Nalda, Sorzano, and Entrena. After his untimely death, the second and third generations of the family took over the estate, launching the winery as it is known today in 2001.

Bodegas Gregorio Martínez has a total of 40 hectares of vineyards, predominantly planted with tempranillo, featuring five distinct clones. The altitude of the vines, their northern orientation, and the composition of the soils in which they take root (red clay, sands, and sedimentary rocks) allow for the production of fine, distinguished wines with great aging potential.
