The La Dehesilla estate, located at an altitude of 700 meters, is one of the largest in Rioja Alta and the perfect birthplace of Gregorio Martínez Finca Sangrado 2016, a fantastic and balanced coupage of tempranillo and mazuelo. In line with the tradition of the best rosés of the region, Bodegas Gregorio Martínez is committed to meticulous production based on the bleeding technique. Each variety went directly from its tank to French oak barrels, where they completed fermentation and a subsequent aging of 18 months with periodic batonnage, resulting in an exceptionally fresh and fruity rosé.
In the olfactory phase, with the glass still, its aromas of fresh red fruit (strawberry, cherry, currant), lactic notes (brioche), and spices (bay leaf, thyme, cinnamon) stand out. When the glass is swirled, floral notes (lilac, geranium, carnation) and tobacco appear.
On the palate, it is fresh, agile yet weighty, with a marked presence of red fruit and hints of cinnamon and vanilla already anticipated on the nose. Very persistent thanks to its excellent acidity.
At the foothills of the Moncalvillo and Camero mountain ranges, on a privileged balcony overlooking the valleys of the Ebro and Iregua, lies the vineyard of Bodegas Gregorio Martínez, at an average altitude of 700 meters above sea level, in one of the highest areas of Rioja Alta.
The origins of the winery date back to the 1970s, led by Gregorio Martínez, a viticulturist who, over the years, consolidated the estate by bringing together parcels from the nearby areas of Logroño, Nalda, Sorzano, and Entrena. After his untimely death, the second and third generations of the family took over the estate, launching the winery as it is known today in 2001.
Bodegas Gregorio Martínez has a total of 40 hectares of vineyards, predominantly planted with tempranillo, featuring five distinct clones. The altitude of the vines, their northern orientation, and the composition of the soils in which they take root (red clay, sands, and sedimentary rocks) allow for the production of fine, distinguished wines with great aging potential.
