Gregorio Martínez Finca Mazuelo is a wine with a cherry red color and medium-high depth.
On the nose, it is fresh. Floral aromas (lilac, violet, hydrangea) dominate, giving way to earthy and fruity notes (blackberry). Swirling the glass intensifies the freshness and brings an evocative hint of violet candy and red fruit with lactic and mineral touches, over a balsamic background.
On the palate, it is fresh, light, and full of fruit (blackberries) and balsamic notes. It has silky tannins and a very long finish, driven by high acidity. Pleasant aftertaste.
At the foothills of the Moncalvillo and Camero mountain ranges, on a privileged balcony overlooking the valleys of the Ebro and Iregua, lies the vineyard of Bodegas Gregorio Martínez, at an average altitude of 700 meters above sea level, in one of the highest areas of Rioja Alta.
The origins of the winery date back to the 1970s, led by Gregorio Martínez, a viticulturist who, over the years, consolidated the estate by bringing together parcels from the nearby areas of Logroño, Nalda, Sorzano, and Entrena. After his untimely death, the second and third generations of the family took over the estate, launching the winery as it is known today in 2001.
Bodegas Gregorio Martínez has a total of 40 hectares of vineyards, predominantly planted with tempranillo, featuring five distinct clones. The altitude of the vines, their northern orientation, and the composition of the soils in which they take root (red clay, sands, and sedimentary rocks) allow for the production of fine, distinguished wines with great aging potential.
