Gotim Bru 2022 is an expressive and elegant red wine that combines the history it represents with a modern style. Made from a blend of garnacha, tempranillo, syrah, and cabernet sauvignon from vineyards located in the southern part of the Castell del Remei estate in Lleida, situated at around 700 meters above sea level and influenced by a continental climate. The result is a fine, fresh, balanced, and elegant wine.
Castell del Remei is a benchmark winery in the D.O. Costers del Segre, led by winemaker and viticulturist Tomàs Cusiné Barber. Its origins date back to 1780, when Ignasi Girona Vilanova's father cultivated the estate under the influence of French viticulture. It is the oldest winery in Catalonia dedicated to producing fine aged wines. Additionally, it has around 100 hectares of estate-owned vineyards, cultivating native varieties such as garnacha, tempranillo, cariñena, trepat, malvasía, and macabeo, along with other French-origin vines introduced to the estate in the 19th century, including cabernet sauvignon, syrah, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc.
Under a framework of sustainable agriculture, Tomàs Cusiné crafts this sensational red wine from the D.O. Costers del Segre. During its production, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, and the wine is aged for 10 months in French and American oak barrels. Gotim Bru 2022 is a red wine with an elegant and balanced profile, exceptionally representing the style of the winery. How to pair Gotim Bru wine? It pairs well with semi-cured cheeses, grilled red meats, meat-based rice dishes, legumes, mushrooms, stews, and cured meats.
Cherry color with garnet rim, with dense tears.
On the nose, in a still glass, great aromatic potential and complexity. Notes of red fruit preserves, along with hints of lactic notes, toasted nuances, and sweet spices. When swirled, mineral aromas emerge with hints of pastry, stewed fruit, and a touch of aromatic herbs like thyme.
The entry on the palate is sweet and voluptuous, with soft tannins that fill the mouth. The acidity is present throughout, providing freshness. Very long and balanced persistence.
Castell del Remei is a benchmark winery in the Denomination of Origin Costers del Segre. It belongs to the winemaker and viticulturist Tomàs Cusiné Barber, who is also the owner of the wineries of the same name and Cérvoles Celler.
The origins of the winery date back to the year 1780, when the father of Don Ignasi Girona Vilanova cultivated the estate influenced by French viticulture. It is the oldest winery in Catalonia for producing fine aged wines, as well as the first Catalan winery built following the Bordeaux-style château model surrounded by vineyards.
The estate has a Mediterranean-continental climate, characterized by a wide thermal variation between its very cold winters and very hot summers, with low rainfall and average humidity.
The winery has approximately 100 hectares of vineyards at an altitude between 700 and 800 meters, on clay-loam soils with abundant gravel, which allows for good drainage. Additionally, it works with native grape varieties such as garnacha, tempranillo, cariñena, trepat, malvasía, and macabeo; to which are added French-origin vines introduced to the estate in the 19th century, with varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, syrah, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc.
With Castell del Remei, they have sought to achieve the maximum expression of the terroir and mountain vineyards, with an average vine age exceeding 25 years, practicing ecological and sustainable vineyard management. In the aging areas, the winery has 1000 barrels of French and American oak.
