Gotim Blanc 2023 is a young, exotic, and fresh white wine made from a blend of the best-selected grapes of the sauvignon blanc and macabeo varieties from a high-altitude vineyard, located at 700 meters above sea level, and cultivated on clay and silt soil with some gravel. These are the main ingredients to produce this unoaked white wine, easy to drink, pleasantly aromatic, and flavorful.
Castell del Remei is a benchmark winery in the Costers del Segre Denomination of Origin, led by winemaker and viticulturist Tomàs Cusiné Barber. It was founded in 1780 when the father of Don Ignasi Girona Vilanova cultivated the estate influenced by French viticulture. It is the oldest winery in Catalonia dedicated to the production of fine aged wines. The winery owns about 100 hectares of vineyards, working with native grape varieties such as garnacha, tempranillo, cariñena, trepat, malvasía, and macabeo, as well as French-origin vines introduced to the estate in the 19th century, including cabernet sauvignon, syrah, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc.
Under sustainable agriculture, Tomàs Cusiné produces this remarkable white wine from the D.O. Costers del Segre. It begins with a peculiar maceration and controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, but separately according to the grape variety. The result is this Gotim Blanc 2023, a white wine that stands out in the mouth for its characteristic salinity and ideally accompanies all kinds of appetizers and dishes with fish and white meats.
Gotim Blanc displays a pale golden color with greenish reflections, clean and bright.
On the nose, aromatic expression with hints of tropical fruits (pineapple, passion fruit) and floral accents, giving way to persistent notes of fresh grass and white fruits like pear and green apple.
The palate is refreshing, pleasant, and balanced, with good acidity and persistence.
Castell del Remei is a benchmark winery in the Denomination of Origin Costers del Segre. It belongs to the winemaker and viticulturist Tomàs Cusiné Barber, who is also the owner of the wineries of the same name and Cérvoles Celler.
The origins of the winery date back to the year 1780, when the father of Don Ignasi Girona Vilanova cultivated the estate influenced by French viticulture. It is the oldest winery in Catalonia for producing fine aged wines, as well as the first Catalan winery built following the Bordeaux-style château model surrounded by vineyards.
The estate has a Mediterranean-continental climate, characterized by a wide thermal variation between its very cold winters and very hot summers, with low rainfall and average humidity.
The winery has approximately 100 hectares of vineyards at an altitude between 700 and 800 meters, on clay-loam soils with abundant gravel, which allows for good drainage. Additionally, it works with native grape varieties such as garnacha, tempranillo, cariñena, trepat, malvasía, and macabeo; to which are added French-origin vines introduced to the estate in the 19th century, with varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, syrah, chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc.
With Castell del Remei, they have sought to achieve the maximum expression of the terroir and mountain vineyards, with an average vine age exceeding 25 years, practicing ecological and sustainable vineyard management. In the aging areas, the winery has 1000 barrels of French and American oak.
