Generación MC 2022 is a red wine that belongs to the high range of one of the most renowned and universal wineries in Rioja: Marqués de Cáceres.

Generación MC 2022 is a limited-edition red wine produced by Marqués de Cáceres, crafted from small plots located in the finest areas of Rioja Alta and Alavesa, where old Tempranillo vines aged between 65 and 90 years are cultivated.

In 1970, under the oenological guidance of the renowned Emile Peynaud, Enrique Forner founded Bodegas Marqués de Cáceres following his previous experience at the Bordeaux estate Château Camensac. Currently led by his daughter Cristina Forner, the winery continues to benefit from exceptional oenological consultancy through the French expert Michel Rolland. The company markets its wines in over 150 countries, making it one of the finest ambassadors of Rioja wines.

Marqués de Cáceres developed a new model in Rioja, breaking with the tradition of aging wines extensively in old barrels, instead introducing new oak and shorter, more respectful aging processes to ensure the fruit takes center stage, with the wood serving as a complementary element to add complexity. This approach, maintained for decades, is reflected with utmost elegance in their current range of wines.

The best example of this evolution is this Generación MC 2022. A red wine with a bold personality, perfect for discovering the charm of one of Spain's most globally recognized wineries. Exclusively crafted in exceptional vintages, it is an author's wine of great concentration and extraction, representing the most fruity, modern, and powerful version of this Rioja house. A true gem that pairs wonderfully with dishes such as grilled beef steak or oxtail stew in red wine.

Creators' opinion

The year 2022 was overall a dry and moderately warm year. The last months of 2021 were very wet, followed by a cold and wet January. February was warm and dry, while March and April were cool with a generous amount of rain. Budding did not occur early and started with vigor and strength, supported by a generous water reserve and high temperatures at the end of spring. The period from June to late October experienced high temperatures and scarce water supply, forcing the plant to utilize its water reserves and ensuring excellent sanitary control. The harvest took place from the second half of September, carried out in a selective, gradual, and staggered manner. The plant naturally regulated the yield, producing grapes in perfect sanitary condition and with optimal phenolic ripeness.
