La Florens 2024 is born from a selection of the finest Garnachas from a century-old vineyard that the winery Josep Grau Viticultor cultivates manually and organically in Marçà, a locality belonging to the Priorat region. The Tarragona-based winery follows a philosophy grounded in viticulture and winemaking without additives or artifices; qualities that allow for the creation of authentic, fruity, and aromatic wines like this exceptional single-varietal red.

La Florens 2024 is a single-varietal red wine made from Garnacha grapes sourced from 75-100-year-old vines planted on calcareous soils in the locality of Capçanes (Tarragona). Josep Grau cultivates these vineyards organically and follows the principles of biodynamic viticulture, with the utmost respect for the plant, the terroir, and biodiversity.

This red wine, labeled as a tribute to Florentina, the winemaker's mother, offers a multitude of nuances in its complex nose, with a balanced, fresh, and long palate. A red wine from Montsant full of subtlety, personality, and finesse.

The winery Josep Grau Viticultor is located in the Tarragona municipality of Marçà. There, and in the areas of Capçanes and Falset, it cultivates 26 hectares of vineyards of Garnacha Blanca and Tinta, Samsó, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, following the principles of organic viticulture. The winery firmly commits to authenticity, avoiding artifices and additives, under the guidelines of biodynamics. A project deeply connected to the terroir, seeking naturalness and essence, producing honest, fresh, and balanced wines that reflect the personality of the region and the vintage. A fine example of this is the La Florens 2024 that we recommend to you.

Creators' opinion

The winery

The history of the winery Josep Grau Viticultor is the realization of a long-cherished dream. Josep Grau left his profession as a broker to fully dedicate himself to a passion: wine.

Grau's project is based in the Tarragona municipality of Marçà, within the D.O. Montsant. In this municipality and in the neighboring areas of Capçanes and Falset, he works 26 hectares of vineyards planted with white and red garnacha, samsó, cabernet sauvignon, and syrah, following the principles of organic viticulture. The vines range from 15 to over 70 years old and are planted in different types of soil, which brings interesting complexity and richness to his wines.

The main characteristic of Josep Grau's wines is their naturalness. The winery is firmly committed to authenticity, avoiding artifices and additives. This philosophy is reflected, for example, in the use of indigenous yeasts and minimal levels of sulfur. In the winery, 90% of fermentations are carried out in cement tanks and wooden vats, while aging is predominantly done in 2,000-liter Austrian-German oak foudres and 500-liter French oak barrels from various cooperages. All of this results in complex, fresh, well-structured, and balanced wines that reflect the personality of Montsant and the uniqueness of each vintage.
